Day 6 - The Last 5 Years

In the last 5 years . . .

+ I experienced some heartbreak with relationships, but those experiences made me more reliant on God and who He was/is in my life. I learned how my joy needed to be rooted more in Christ than in any other human being. I also became a much more compassionate person for those who were also hurting. I realized that because I received much grace from God and those around me that I could extend more grace to others. As a friend once said, "You can't give what you haven't been given or received."

+ I was so insecure about my looks and capabilities that it led to some deeply rooted sins in my heart. In the past years, God has given me immeasurable courage to face my sins and then give me grace and mercy when I repented. My insecurities are always a work in progress, but each time I face them my freedom, confidence, and peace continues to grow.

+ After lots of hard work and prayer, I was able to graduate college with my bachelors and masters degree. Class of 2017!

+ Through God's faithfulness and perfect timing, Chu and I dated, got engaged, and married all within a year! Being with Chu has revealed many of my difficult qualities, but he has also humbled me with his forgiveness and patience. Being with Chu, as cliche as it sounds, also makes me want to be a better person. My desire to be more like Christ continues to grow because I want to love like Christ would.

+ In the last 5 years, I have had the opportunity to travel around the country and it's allowed/challenged me to expand my horizons, meet new people, and experience new things. These adventures have played a hand in making me a much more well rounded person.

+ I celebrated A LOT of weddings. It was a season when my friends were all getting married. I couldn't wait for my wedding and now that I'm married, I just can't wait for everyone else to get married too!

+ My food palette has grown tremendously! I used to be extremely picky, but going to college and getting married has changed that and I'm thankful because I can now enjoy some yummy stuff out there.

+ In the past 5 years, I have consistently read the bible more and more. My love for God's word continues to grow and so does my understanding of who He is.

+ My prayer life has grown so much too. I use to struggle with how to pray instead of focusing on why I prayed. When I understood why, how wasn't an issue anymore. I'm thankful for the spirit's conviction and discernment when it comes to praying. In the last 5 years, God has also brought me to my knees and shown me the importance of having a prayer life. My relationship with God has become more intimate through my prayers and quite time with Him.

It doesn't seem like a lot would happen in 5 years, but when I look back there have been so many refining and beautiful moments. I also wanted to share some of my favorite memories with y'all! There's a lot. I tried to cut it down, but there's still a lot lol!

Day 5 - A Day In My Life

Welcome to my Sunday!

I've been home like most people these days, so my daily life has been pretty chill and repetitive. I definitely don't mind this slower pace of life though.

So, the first thing I did today was my skincare routine. This process has been less stressful since I have nowhere to be. Usually, I'm running out of the house late lol.

After I got ready, I read my bible right away. Depending on the chapter, it could be long, like today, so I went to eat and then came back and did my reflections and bullet journal.

My go to breakfast or brunch has been a pan fried ncuav (pounded sticky rice or mochi?). I love mine crispy and salted. So simple, but soo yummy!

After we ate, Chu and I just did our own things until church service started. They've been doing a live broadcast so they start pretty close to our original service time as well.

Afterwards, we cuddle and watch our most recent drama until it's time to prepare dinner. We're currently watching "Hi Bye, Mama" and I definitely always have a towel next to me in case I start to cry again.

Today, I learned to cook a new dish from my MIL, but I totally forgot to take a picture. It was a noodle soup with pork and cabbage. It was very simple, but also very fulfilling.

After dinner, Chu and I enjoyed some dessert and played Phase Ten. Lately, we've been playing either Phase Ten or Catan.

When we finished, we headed downstairs and relaxed (again) for the rest of the night.

Literally, this is how my weekdays are too, but with some minor changes here and there. It's been good though and I'm not complaining one bit.
